Wookey Hole Caves is the setting for Halloween Fright Nights from Saturday 20th October to Sunday 28th October – an appropriate feature of a visit to the Caves thanks to the constant presence of the petrified witch. There’s also a new Circus School – with the input of owner Gerry Cottle evident – opening at Wookey Hole, with training three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5pm to 8pm for students from the age of 11. Skills taught include juggling, stilts, wire-walking and trapeze. You can buy paper from the paper mill to take home and enjoy, and you can come to see the Asylum, a show organised by the Circus Of Horrors on 9 November at the Wookey Hole Theatre. With so much to see and do here in the heart of the West Country, it’s little wonder that many families and local parties return to the Caves over and over again. After all, where else do you have the opportunity to visit an underworld of light and water, a park full of dinosaurs, an original medieval paper mill and an exhibition of valuable teddy bears – all under one roof?
